Description
The 66.04×5.33 mm O-ring in FPM (FKM) with a hardness of 80 Shore A is a seal with a classic toroidal profile – circular in cross-section. The profile is made as a single seamless elastomer ring, injection moulded, and the injection point is placed as standard at an angle of 45° to the plane of the cross-section, which minimises the effect of the injection mark on the sealing function. The toroidal geometry ensures line contact with the surfaces of the sealing groove on both the pressure side and the atmospheric side. The FPM material (fluoroelastomer, also referred to as FKM or Viton®) is characterised by very good chemical resistance to mineral oils, hydrocarbon fuels, mineral-based hydraulic fluids, greases and most acids and aromatic solvents. A hardness of 80 Shore A means a higher degree of hardness compared with the typical standard of 70 Shore A, which results in a reduced tendency for the material to extrude at higher operating pressures. The seal meets the requirements of DIN 3771 and can be used in static (axial and radial) and dynamic (reciprocating) sealing applications in hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, industrial valves, engines and gearboxes. Dimensional data: Inside diameter (d): 66.04 mm (≈ 2.600") Outside diameter (D): 76.70 mm (≈ 3.020") Cross-section diameter (thickness, d2): 5.33 mm (≈ 0.210") Material: FPM (FKM) Hardness: 80 Shore A Standard: DIN 3771 Colour: brown The seal is a replacement for O-rings of identical dimensions offered by other manufacturers under the designations: Parker 2-334, Kastas KO-0660453, as well as O-rings of the same size in the catalogues of Aston Seals, Dichtomatik, Guarnitec, Hallite, Simrit, Trelleborg and SKF.
Material
FPM / FKM (fluoroelastomer, Viton®)
- Operating temperature-20 °C to +200 °C
Good for high temperature, all fuels and oils, ozone and sunlight. Not for brake fluid, acetone-type solvents, ammonia, hot steam or severe cold.
| Can be used | Do not use |
|---|---|
| High temperatures, continuously up to +200 °C | Acetone, MEK, dioxane, ethyl acetate and similar solvents |
| Mineral and synthetic oils, incl. engine oil and oils with aggressive additives | Brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1): the ring swells |
| Benzene, toluene, xylene, trichloroethylene (aromatic and chlorinated solvents) | Ammonia, amines and alkaline liquids: the rubber breaks down |
| All fuels: petrol also with bioethanol (E10, E85), diesel, biodiesel, aviation petrol | Steam and hot water above +120 to +130 °C |
| Fire-resistant hydraulic fluid HFD-R (phosphate esters) | Formic acid and strong acetic acid (low-molecular organic acids) |
| Ozone, UV and sunlight (hardly any ageing) | Severe cold below -20 °C with standard FPM: it hardens and leaks |
| Deep vacuum (very little outgassing) | Hot fluorine gas and hydrofluoric acid (HF) |
Safety: if the seal is heated above +300 °C (fire, gas torch), FPM releases toxic hydrogen fluoride. Do not touch the burnt residue with bare hands: it forms hydrofluoric acid and causes chemical burns.
