Description
The 18×32×10 mm AS type shaft seal, made of nitrile rubber (NBR), is intended for sealing rotating shafts in industrial gearboxes, electric motors, agricultural and construction machinery and general-purpose drives. The AS profile corresponds to the DIN 3760 standard and belongs to the standard class of industrial rotary shaft seals - the equivalent of the so-called oil seal (simmering). The profile is based on an elastomer (rubber) outer casing, which provides static sealing in the housing without the need for sealing compounds, while compensating for small bore deviations and thermal deformation. The internal steel metal reinforcement gives the seal the necessary rigidity. The sealing lip is short, flexible and pressed against the shaft surface by a spring, which ensures constant contact at varying rotational speeds. The AS profile is also fitted with an additional dust lip, which protects the sealing space from light to moderate external contamination. The equivalent of the AS profile is the Simrit/Freudenberg BASL - a standard oil seal with a rubber outer casing and a dust lip. Technical data: Profile type: AS (standard, with dust lip, elastomer outer casing) Standard: DIN 3760 Material: NBR (nitrile rubber), hardness 75 Shore A Metal reinforcement: steel Spring: spring steel Inner diameter (d): 18 mm (≈ 0,709") Outer diameter (D): 32 mm (≈ 1,260") Height / width (H): 10 mm (≈ 0,394") Inch size (d × D × H): 0.709" × 1.260" × 0.394" Max. peripheral speed: up to 14 m/s (8 m/s with the dust lip) Max. pressure: 0,05 MPa Media: mineral oils, synthetic oils Shaft journal tolerance: ISO h11 Shaft surface hardness: 45–60 HRC Shaft surface roughness: Ra 0,2–0,4 µm
Material
NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)
- Operating temperature-30 °C to +100 °C
Good with oils, fuels, water and compressed air. Not for brake fluid, solvents, strong acids or sunlight.
| Can be used | Do not use |
|---|---|
| Mineral oil, grease and hydraulic oil (H, H-L, H-LP) | Brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1): the ring swells quickly |
| Diesel, fuel oil, kerosene | Sunlight and open air (ozone): the rubber cracks |
| Petrol (gasoline), propane, butane | Acetone, MEK, ethyl acetate and similar solvents |
| Water and water-based liquids, up to +80 °C | Benzene, toluene, trichloroethylene (aromatic and chlorinated solvents) |
| Compressed air, also with oil mist | Synthetic ester oils and fire-resistant fluid HFD-R |
| Water-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC) | Strong (concentrated) acids, e.g. nitric and sulfuric, and strong oxidizers |
| Oil-and-water emulsions | Steam and hot water above +100 °C |
| Weak acids, alkalis and salt solutions, at room temperature | |
| Use with cautionPetrol with a lot of bioethanol (E10, E85): better use FKM (Viton) | |
Shows low compression set within the recommended temperature range.
