Description

Pneumatic piston seal K55, 63 × 12 × 10 mm, made by Kastas (product code K55-063), is for standard pneumatic cylinders. The profile is a complete double-acting piston: an aluminium body (disc) with a vulcanised layer of nitrile rubber (NBR), 70 Shore A. The special geometry of the sealing lips keeps an optimal lubricating film, low friction and smooth reciprocating motion inside the cylinder. Venting channels integrated in the metal part give stable, reliable operation under pressure also at the end of the stroke. No additional seals are needed between the piston and the rod: the static seal on the inner diameter is the vulcanised elastomer layer itself. The element is fitted directly on the rod, pushed onto the clamping collar and secured with a nut. Technical data and dimensions: Inner diameter (d): 12 mm Outer diameter (D): 63 mm Total height (B): 10 mm Width of the mounting face (b): 8 mm Diameter of the inner shoulder (d1): 26 mm Height of the metal disc (s): 4 mm Depth of the recess (h): 4,5 mm Material: nitrile rubber (NBR 70 Shore A) + aluminium (AL9901) Working pressure (maximum): ≤ 12 bar Speed (maximum): ≤ 1,0 m/s Medium: treated, filtered and lubricated compressed air More technical information and drawings of the K55-063 profile are in the manufacturer's documentation or the technical documentation of the elastoring.eu shop.

Material

NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)

  • Operating temperature-30 °C to +100 °C

Good with oils, fuels, water and compressed air. Not for brake fluid, solvents, strong acids or sunlight.

Chemical resistance
Can be usedDo not use
Mineral oil, grease and hydraulic oil (H, H-L, H-LP)Brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1): the ring swells quickly
Diesel, fuel oil, keroseneSunlight and open air (ozone): the rubber cracks
Petrol (gasoline), propane, butaneAcetone, MEK, ethyl acetate and similar solvents
Water and water-based liquids, up to +80 °CBenzene, toluene, trichloroethylene (aromatic and chlorinated solvents)
Compressed air, also with oil mistSynthetic ester oils and fire-resistant fluid HFD-R
Water-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC)Strong (concentrated) acids, e.g. nitric and sulfuric, and strong oxidizers
Oil-and-water emulsionsSteam and hot water above +100 °C
Weak acids, alkalis and salt solutions, at room temperature
Use with cautionPetrol with a lot of bioethanol (E10, E85): better use FKM (Viton)

Shows low compression set within the recommended temperature range.
