The K29-090 PU ring is a two-piece buffer seal designed for sealing the piston rod in hydraulic cylinders. The K29 profile consists of an elastomer sealing element made of polyurethane (PU) and a back-up ring made of thermoplastic (POM). The elastomer element has a specially shaped profile with a 20° angle on the contact surface, which allows excess pressure to be relieved from above the primary seal. The POM ring acts as a back-up ring that limits extrusion of the sealing material under pressure. The K29 seal is not a primary sealing element — it is used only as a buffer seal together with a primary seal (e.g. K22, K32 or similar profiles). Its purpose is to protect the primary seal against pressure spikes, which translates into a longer service life of the whole system. It is installed in closed grooves; before fitting, the seal should be lubricated with working oil. The seal is a replacement for the following profiles from other manufacturers: Parker BU, Simrit SM, Trelleborg BF-R, SKF RBB, Hallite BUFFER 653, ARTIC SEALS RBR.
