Description
The hub seal from the renowned Italian manufacturer Corteco, part of the Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) group, is a highly specialised shaft sealing ring intended for work in exceptionally harsh environmental conditions, where there is a lot of dust and a risk of heavy contamination. Construction and principle of operation Double casing: The seal consists of an inner casing pressed onto the shaft, which acts as the running surface for the mating outer casing. Labyrinth system: The integrated labyrinth arrangement of sealing lips effectively retains: -external contamination (dust, mud, sand, filings), -grease leakage to the outside - maintaining its correct level inside the system. No shaft treatment: The innovative design eliminates the need to harden or grind the shaft surface, which significantly simplifies and speeds up installation. Application The product is used, among others, in: hubs of excavators and construction machinery, equipment exposed to intense contact with mud, water, dust and aggressive particles. Seal dimensions: • Inner diameter: 100 mm • Outer diameter: 129,85 mm • Seal height: 12,5/14 mm Technical parameters: • Working pressure: ≤0,05 MPa • Maximum speed: ≤4 m/s
Material
NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)
- Operating temperature-30 °C to +100 °C
Good with oils, fuels, water and compressed air. Not for brake fluid, solvents, strong acids or sunlight.
| Can be used | Do not use |
|---|---|
| Mineral oil, grease and hydraulic oil (H, H-L, H-LP) | Brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1): the ring swells quickly |
| Diesel, fuel oil, kerosene | Sunlight and open air (ozone): the rubber cracks |
| Petrol (gasoline), propane, butane | Acetone, MEK, ethyl acetate and similar solvents |
| Water and water-based liquids, up to +80 °C | Benzene, toluene, trichloroethylene (aromatic and chlorinated solvents) |
| Compressed air, also with oil mist | Synthetic ester oils and fire-resistant fluid HFD-R |
| Water-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC) | Strong (concentrated) acids, e.g. nitric and sulfuric, and strong oxidizers |
| Oil-and-water emulsions | Steam and hot water above +100 °C |
| Weak acids, alkalis and salt solutions, at room temperature | |
| Use with cautionPetrol with a lot of bioethanol (E10, E85): better use FKM (Viton) | |
Shows low compression set within the recommended temperature range.
