Description
A shaft seal (oil seal) measuring 43,5 mm × 56 mm × 7 mm, made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) compound. The product is made by SOG in Taiwan and bears the manufacturer code 114486N. A sealing ring of this size is used, among others, in Knott trailer axles as a replacement for the part with catalogue number 6S0062.001. Seal profile design The AS profile design (equivalent to the TC designation per DIN 3760) consists of a metal stiffening insert completely covered with NBR elastomer, a main sealing lip pressed by a coil spring, and an additional protective (dust) lip. The rubber outer casing makes installation in the housing easier and provides static sealing, even where the housing bore surface is slightly rough. The additional lip eliminates the risk of external contaminants, such as dust or moisture, entering the system. Technical and dimensional data Inner diameter (d): 43,5 mm Outer diameter (D): 56,0 mm Height / thickness (H): 7,0 mm Material: NBR (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber) Profile: AS / TC (with dust lip and spring) Product code: 114486N Manufacturer: SOG (Taiwan) Application / Replacements: Knott 6S0062.001 (trailer axle seal)
Material
NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)
- Operating temperature-30 °C to +100 °C
Good with oils, fuels, water and compressed air. Not for brake fluid, solvents, strong acids or sunlight.
| Can be used | Do not use |
|---|---|
| Mineral oil, grease and hydraulic oil (H, H-L, H-LP) | Brake fluid (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1): the ring swells quickly |
| Diesel, fuel oil, kerosene | Sunlight and open air (ozone): the rubber cracks |
| Petrol (gasoline), propane, butane | Acetone, MEK, ethyl acetate and similar solvents |
| Water and water-based liquids, up to +80 °C | Benzene, toluene, trichloroethylene (aromatic and chlorinated solvents) |
| Compressed air, also with oil mist | Synthetic ester oils and fire-resistant fluid HFD-R |
| Water-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC) | Strong (concentrated) acids, e.g. nitric and sulfuric, and strong oxidizers |
| Oil-and-water emulsions | Steam and hot water above +100 °C |
| Weak acids, alkalis and salt solutions, at room temperature | |
| Use with cautionPetrol with a lot of bioethanol (E10, E85): better use FKM (Viton) | |
Shows low compression set within the recommended temperature range.
